PHIL PARKINSON admits losing to Woking was a missed opportunity after seeing leaders Stockport County suffer defeat but the Reds' boss expects more twists and turns in the race for the National League title.

The Hatters went down 2-1 at Yeovil on Saturday but second placed Wrexham, who kicked-off at a later time and knew the result, lost by the same score against the Cards at the Kingfield Stadium despite leading at the break.

Wrexham remain seven points off top spot with five games to go and when asked whether if felt like a missed opportunity given Stockport's result," Parkinson said: "Of course."

The Reds' boss insists the players being aware of the Hatters' defeat did not affect the way his side played.

"Not at all," he said. "We weren't focussing on it in our preparation but you can't not know that Stockport got beat.

"That is a bonus isn't it. Nobody expected Stockport to get beat at Yeovil, I was really surprised at that result.

"We just concentrate on the process and I felt we executed that well for the first 45 minutes, and up to the penalty I felt we did well. Well enough without carving them open.

"Credit to them, they got back in it and overturned a deficit and won, but we need to move on."

Parkinson believes automatic promotion is still up for grabs but says Wrexham, who saw their 15-game unbeaten run ended by Woking, will be ready for the play-offs if they miss out.

"We have said all along there are lots of twists and turns along the way," said Parkinson.

"Stockport will be deflated and they will probably be lifted, we have just got to make sure that we keep our standard of performance high right though the season.

"If we go straight up, great, if we are in the play-offs, we are ready to go and tackle that and go through the play-offs.

"Mentally and physically, we have got to be ready to go to the last minute of the play-off final if that is what it takes.

"If it doesn't, that's a bonus."
