SKIPPER George Deniz is looking forward to Mold’s return to top flight action with tomorrow’s trip to Llay.

Batting all-rounder from Barbados Jakeem Forde has joined to bolster the Mold ranks this summer.

“He looks a handy player,” said Deniz of the 19-year-old.

“He’s come over with an aspiration that he wants to be a professional player.

“He wants to make a name for himself in England and Wales.”

One aspect Mold have been looking at is their catching in the slips ahead of the start of the season.

“To be fair we have got quite good hands behind the wicket,” added Deniz.

As for the Llay match, Deniz added: “We are all looking forward to it.

“It will be a good, competitive game.”

Tom North, who is a pilot, is unavailable due to work, while Phil Parkinson and Paul Mullin are to blame for another absence!

Last season’s leading wicket taker Gareth Davies is an avid Wrexham FC follower and he also misses the match, with the Reds away to Woking in the National League.

Mold, who have been away from the Premier Division since 2014, are also minus Ewan Hill and Deniz added: “A few players have not played in the Premier Division before, but we’ve got a few that have.

“It will be an interesting mix.

“We’re going to be a hard team to beat.”

Llay have a new skipper this season in Tom Crewe and they will be without the likes of Huw Jones, Rich Beale, Matty Cross and John Lloyd for the season opener.

Marchwiel and Wrexham, and Buckley both made the step-up from Division Two last season and they begin their Division One programme with home matches.

Llanrwst head to Marchwiel and Wrexham, while Buckley host Conwy, who were relegated from the Premier Division last time out.
