WREXHAM got a welcome breather at the weekend but Phil Parkinson wants his side to pick up where they left off tomorrow night when the Reds continue the promotion challenge with another huge game.

Parkinson’s in-form side go into the home clash with title rivals Boreham Wood on the back of five successive wins.

After beating the Wood in the FA Trophy to reach the quarter-finals, Wrexham registered back to back away victories at Wealdstone and Chesterfield before returning to The Racecourse to defeat Aldershot and King’s Lynn.

Wrexham are now third in the National League, nine points behind leaders Stockport County with 14 games to go, and Parkinson is relishing the clash with fifth-placed Wood, who didn’t play at the weekend after their 2-0 FA Cup exit at Everton on Thursday night.

“We have had a tough run of games in terms of the Saturday-Tuesday so we can now take a little bit of a deep breath,” said Parkinson.

“There’s few people with bumps and bruises - which you always get when you have a run of games - so we can get them right and go into the Boreham Wood game ready to come out of the traps quickly.

“We have played them once, we know what they are all about, they play in a similar way to the teams we have played recently.

“Obviously they are better at it because they are up there in the top of the league but we found a way against them in the FA Trophy and we will have to work equally hard to do that again.

“We knew after those two away games - Wealdstone and Chesterfield - we had a run of home games.

“We have won the first two and now it is real concentration levels - can we go again against Boreham Wood.”
