IT may be early days, but Johnny Haseldin has put himself in the box seat for another Cymru North manager of the month award.

Having already claimed the prizes for November and January, Haseldin guided the Wellmen to a stunning 3-0 verdict at in-form Colwyn Bay on St David's Day to climb into the top-five.

This ended Steve Evans' unbeaten start as Colwyn Bay manager and it was the perfect result for Holywell ahead of a weekend off.

"We couldn't have gone there at a worse time, with the way they are playing - they've been to Connah's Quay, unbeaten under Steve and revitalised," said Haseldin.

"But we went there and had a bit of a game plan and the lads keep doing what they're doing.

"We're not going to sit in. The lads got after them like they did at Llandudno and Guilsfield.

"We're quite prepared to play that style of football."

Ilan ap Gareth's tap-in gave Holywell the lead at the break versus Colwyn Bay, before second half strikes by Danny Sullivan and Dave Forbes sealed another stunning away day success for the Wellmen.

Holywell had already beaten title-chasing Llandudno and third-placed Guilsfield away from home this season, but the win at Colwyn Bay may have topped them all.

Just a week-and-a-half earlier, the Seagulls had triumphed 2-0 at defending Cymru Premier League champions Connah's Quay Nomads in the last-eight of the Welsh Cup.

"The supporters were fantastic," added Haseldin.

"They were loving it!

"They clap us off win, lose or draw.

"They can see what we're trying to do.

"We are trying to attack teams and stay on the front foot.

"They are well on board with it.

"My priority is for them (the players) to make people happy.

"It's not for my personal ego.

"It feels good - it's easier getting up when we're winning."

Haseldin feels Holywell's tough start to the season has been crucial in the recent run of form.

"For me, we needed to have that to make us stronger," he stressed.

"How it felt to be down to reap the rewards.

"Everyone's enjoying it.

"Even at 1-0 I wasn't edgy, I was still enjoying the game."
