ONE goal did the trick as Northop Hall Hockey Club's women's first team stormed to victory!

It was meant to be a double-header for the Hall ladies, but their Welsh Trophy quarter-final versus Newcastle Emlyn was postponed due to the stormy weather.

There was some action as they travelled to Wilmslow Seconds for a league clash and Hall returned with a 1-0 success.

Thankfully, the wind and the rain stayed away for a hard fought game.

In the first half, Hall were uncharacteristically sloppy which Wilmslow tried to capitalise on.

However, goalkeeper and player of the match Suzi Harris came to the rescue.

Hall started the second half by keeping the ball, passing around the back and forcing the home keeper into save-after-save.

With minutes to spare, Sophie Hall earned a green card but that seemed to spur the visitors on.

Soon after, some beautiful play up the left resulted in Jen Jones slotting in the only goal of the contest.

This kept Hall at the top of the table.

Northop Hall will be aiming to maintain their momentum as they tackle Goldborne this weekend.
