A WELSH champion and a clutch of personal bests.

It turned out to be a fine return for Wrexham AC as four club members headed to Cardiff to compete in the Welsh indoor championships.

Leading the quartet was Thomas Walley, who became senior male Welsh pole vault champion thanks to his effort of 4.61 metres.

Also competing in the senior men's class was Finley Boulton, who achieved a time of 2-08.4 in his heat for the 800-metres.

Lucy Jones and Ella Davies both achieved personal bests in the U15 girls' section.

A PB of 2-23.61 saw Ella Davis cross the line as the runner-up in the 800-metres.

With a personal best of 4.86 metres, Lucy was fourth in the long jump and she also claimed a new PB of 8.56 seconds in her 60-metres heat, eventually finishing ninth in the final in 8.69.

Laura Turley celebrated a podium place in Cardiff at the Welsh indoor track and field championships.

The West Cheshire sprinter secured a bronze medal in the senior women’s 400m final after clocking a time of 56.63 seconds.

Laura was competing in her first Welsh championships and indoor 400m in three years and qualified for the final after winning her heat in 57.77 seconds.

“I’m coming away with a bronze! But more importantly I’m coming away feeling super proud and with a lot proven to myself,” she said.

Jamie Richardson, Jessica Lark and Luke Parker produced top-20 finishes at the Northern Cross Country Championships at Pontefract.

Victories just kept on coming the way of Wrexham AC members.

Joel Gomes was the first M40 at the Tarren Hendre fell race with a time of 53.41.

On the same day, Ryan Davis clocked 17.06 to win the Erddig parkrun.

A personal best of 17.12 from Harvey Davis was good enough for second spot and also achieving a top-10 finish was Andy Jones (sixth in 20.15).

They were followed by Karl Moore (51st in 27.46), Peter Hughes (63rd in 28.35) and Beth Christy (65th in 28.50).

Completing the Wrexham AC contingent at the event were Lucy Morris (134th in 35.02), Debbie Dodd (140th in 35.40) and Karl Hughes (169th in 48.58).

Over at the Wepre parkrun, Mike Robbins' effort of 22.52 saw him finishing in seventh spot, while 44th was Alexandra Edwards' position in the Greenfield parkrun with her time of 30.42.

Adding to the wins, Spencer Jones was victorious in the Alyn Waters junior parkrun with a personal best of 8.27.

Personal bests were also claimed by Bethan Roberts (9.00) and Evie Hughes (9.17), who crossed the line in second and third respectively.

Annabelle Jones was fifth in 9.37, Rhys Jones (10.06) claimed seventh and a time of 10.40 saw Grace Hughes in 11th.

Fixtures this weekend include the North Wales Cross Country League at Marches School, Oswestry, on Saturday.
