WREXHAM came from behind to beat Yeovil Town 2-1 at Huish Park on their return to National League action.

It was the Reds' first league game for three weeks and Phil Parkinson's side bounced back from the 3-1 defeat at Notts County on January 2 to get the promotion challenge back on track with three points against the Glovers.

Victory, which made amends for Wrexham's only home defeat of the season against Yeovil on November 30. took the Reds back into the play-offs.

Parkinson made two changes from the side that started the 5-1 win against Folkestone Invicta in the FA Trophy the previous weekend.

Harry Lennon, suspended for the fourth round tie, came into the Reds' defence in place of Max Cleworth while top scorer Paul Mullin, who was rested against Folkestone, replaced Jordan Ponticelli in attack.

It is the first time that Mullin and Kwame Thomas have started together up front as the Reds' boss named a new-look strikeforce.

Wrexham had their first sight of goal in the eighth minute when Jordan Davies flicked on Ben Tozer's long throw but the ball drifted wide with no one at the far post to slot home.

Davies also saw a free-kick deflect off the wall for a corner which came to nothing, but Yeovil took the lead in the 14th minute.

Knowles cut in from the right following a short throw-in and drilled a shot that found the bottom corner.

Buoyed by his goal, Knowles tried his luck again from a similar distance but his drive was straight at Lainton while Wrexham had a let-off when Sonny Blu Lo-Everton sent in a superb cross and Josh Staunton headed over the bar with only the Reds' keeper to beat.

There was another good chance for Yeovil to double their lead when Lainton's clearance from Tozer's back-pass fell to Matt Worthington who squared the ball to Charlie Wakefield and his effort was saved by the relieved Reds' shot-stopper.

Parkinson made a change for the start of the second half with Ponticelli replacing Thomas and Wrexham almost equalised

Mullin raced onto Reece Hall-Johnson's well executed ball over the top and his shot across goal fell inches wide.

However, Wrexham equalised in the 59th minute.

Yeovil's Dave Gorman was down but referee Sonny Gill allowed play to continue and the ball was worked to Mullin who found the top corner with a brilliant curling effort from the edge of the area.

It got even better for Wrexham who went 2-1 up after 79 minutes.

Substitute Liam McAlinden, on for the injured Bryce Hosannah, sent in a cross that was just beyond Ponticelli and Davies' shot was turned into his own net by Morgan Williams.

Wrexham came close to a third goal as Davies' free-kick was parried by keeper Grant Smith and Reece Hall-Johnson struck the woodwork.

Davies' drive deflected wide for a corner but Wrexham had done enough to secure victory.
