PHIL PARKINSON revealed all first team players who are available for selection will be considered for Saturday’s FA Trophy third round tie with Gloucester City at The Racecourse.

Promotion is the priority but the Wrexham boss still wants to progress to the next round of a competition that the Reds won in 2013 and were beaten finalists two years later.

Parkinson is set to take the opportunity to definitely rest two key players - defender Aaron Hayden and leading scorer Paul Mullin - to give the duo time to recover from knocks ahead of the busy festive period.

Dan Jarvis is still out with an ankle injury and fellow midfielder Lian McAliden completes a three-game ban, but centre-back Harry Lennon is back in the reckoning after serving a one-match suspension.

All other available players will be in contention and Parkinson will decide on a starting XI.

“We have had a couple of players who we have been getting through the games with knocks,” said Parkinson.

“Aaron Hayden and Paul Mullin come under that category so it gives us a chance to try and get them right for the Christmas period.

“But equally, we want to play a team which can still progress in the tournament.

“The squad will consist of all the players who are available and fit, and I will pick a team we feel can progress in the competition.

“The only ones who won’t be involved are the ones who need time off to get them right for the Christmas period so that is the approach.

“We will pick the team that we feel is right to win the game. We want to make sure that we progress.”

Striker Dior Argus missed Saturday’s 1-0 home win against Weymouth after testing positive for coronavirus and Parkinson added: “We have had a problem with the Covid situation so we are monitoring that very closely, like a lot of other teams.”

Wrexham play three games in eight days during the festive period, starting with the visit of Solihull Moors on Boxing Day.
