FIVE Wrexham AC members achieved top-20 finishes in the latest Border Road Race League meeting.

Athletes from the area descended on Birkenhead, with the Wrexham contingent headed by Daniel Weston, who crossed the line in seventh spot in a time of 28.56.

Luke Northall (29.26) was in 10th position, followed by James Mills (12th in 29.30), Joel Gomes (13th in 29.31) and James Nicholls (20th in 30.19).

They helped the men's team to fifth position in Division One.

Other senior men's results: 25, Harvey Davis 30.50; 94, Mike Robbins 36.38; 95, David Millington 36.40; 124, Richard Westwood 38.41; 143, Alan Williams 40.08; 158, Gavin Billington 42.27.

Wrexham AC's senior women were sixth in Division Two, spear-headed by Paula Morris, who achieved 85th place in 49.26.

Alex Edwards finished 98th in 53.12, while a time of 61.02 saw Lucy Morris in 102nd.

There were a trio of personal bests from club representatives at the Sale Harriers Indoor Open meet in Manchester.

Two of them were achieved by Isobel Gunn in the U17 women's class - 8.38 seconds for the 60-metres and 9.90 seconds in the 60-metre hurdles.

In the U15 girls' section, there was a personal best of 8.66 from Lucy Jones in the 60-metres.

She also clocked 44.80 in the 300-metres and produced an effort of 5.96 metres in the long jump.

Evan Williams competed in the U20 men's section, with 5.96 metres in the long jump and 7.28 seconds for the 60-metres.

Ben Goodfellow and Ifan Oldfield travelled to Liverpool for the UK Cross Challenge.

In the senior men's race, Goodfellow crossed the line 152nd in 33.05 and Oldfield's time of 36.18 secured 234th place.

There were two Wrexham AC runners in the top-10 at the most recent Erddig parkrun.

Ella Davis finished sixth in 21.20, one position and one second in front of Harvey Davis.

Also in Wrexham colours were Phil Walker (70th in 31.04) and John Tipping (122nd in 47.40).

At the Alyn Waters junior parkrun, there was a third-placed finish for Bethan Roberts in 9.48.

There are two events for club members this Saturday, with the Northern Indoor Open taking place in Sheffield.

Closer to home, the Vale of Clwyd half marathon will start from Llandyrnog, near Denbigh.
