BRYCE HOSANNAH wants Wrexham to make the most of being in National League action tomorrow when some of their promotion rivals have a day off.

Phil Parkinson's men head into the clash against basement side Dover Athletic at The Crabble Ground sitting seventh in the table.

Tuesday's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Yeovil ended a six-game unbeaten run and denied Wrexham the chance of climbing up to third position.

But with only two teams currently above Wrexham on league duty tomorrow, wing-back Hosannah is looking to pick up three points against Dover to cement the Reds' position in the play-off places and put some distance between themselves and the chasing pack.

"We just need to try and take advantage of that opportunity," said Hosannah.

"Recently it has been us that have had the game in hand and it almost felt like we were playing catch-up.

"Now it is the chance to do the opposite and make a couple of other teams catch up to us.

"Maybe there is a little bit of added pressure when you are below and a game behind; even though you have that game in hand, you still have to win it.

"We will have played more games after Saturday and it is an opportunity for us to get ahead. We have got to take advantage of that opportunity."

Wrexham, who beat high-flying Bromley 2-0 at The Racecourse on Saturday, would have moved just three points behind leaders Chesterfield with victory over Yeovil.

The Glovers inflicted a first home defeat of the season on the Reds and Hosannah saw it as a missed opportunity.

"It was disappointing because we had a real chance to really make a statement if we got two wins this week and push up the league," said Hosannah.

"Everyone in the dressing room was just so disappointed after that.

"But the game is done now, we can't change the result

"We can't dwell on it, we need to move on to the next one and try and get the three points on Saturday."

Wrexham played for nearly an hour with 10 men after Liam McAlinden was controversially sent off in the 34th minute.

Hosannah didn't see the alleged elbow which led to the midfielder being shown a straight red card by referee Scott Tallis but he still fancied the Reds' to go on and pick up another win, although two "sloppy" second half goals ended hopes of clinching three points.

"I didn't see it because for set-pieces, I am normally back," said Hosannah.

"I looked away and then I heard a gasp from the crowd, and all the players running over.

"I didn't even see the referee give the red card.

"It made it really difficult for us going down to 10 men.

"We said at half-time that we still wanted to go and win the game but it was difficult trying to find the balance between the two, and the goals we conceded were quite sloppy."
