PHIL PARKINSON has urged players to make the most of their opportunity in the absence of Wrexham's two top scorers.

Nine-goal leading marksmen Paul Mullin was handed a three-game ban after the authorities decided that there had been a case of mistaken identity and Bryce Hosannah would not serve any punishment for the red card he was shown following an off the ball incident during last Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat against Maidenhead, with the ban being handed out to the striker.

Absent for a Saturday's 1-1 draw with Torquay, Mullin will also miss Saturday’s FA Cup first round tie against Harrogate Town at Wetherby Road and next Tuesday’s rearranged trip to Aldershot.

Hyde, who has struck three times, is currently out of action with a groin injury and Jordan Ponticelli started in attack against the Gulls with Dior Angus coming off the substitutes bench.

However is selected up front when Wrexham aim to progress in the cup this weekend, Parkinson wants them to step up to the plate.

"Jake had a problem with his calf against Marine," said Parkinson.

"We had it scanned and unfortunately it was a grade two calf injury so we are just waiting patiently for Jake.

"You can't rush those injuries, the muscle has got to heal.

"He is a miss but while he and Mulls are out, it is an opportunity for other people to step forward.

"It is the chance for other players to step up to the plate and stake a claim."
