SHAUN BRISLEY stressed the importance of Wrexham stringing an unbeaten run together and starting to climb the National League table.

The Reds have had an indifferent start to the season but have won their last two games, with Phil Parkinson's side beating Marine 2-0 in last Tuesday's 2-0 FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay before registering a comfortable 3-0 victory at Barnet on Saturday.

Wrexham, now 11th in the standings, are back on the road against Maidenhead United at York Road this evening and Brisley wants to continue making the most of upcoming games against teams in the bottom half on the table.

Although he won't take the Magpies lightly, the centre-back is looking to build on the last two performances which have landed deserved wins in league and cup.

"We have had a difficult start on paper, playing some of the big teams," said Brisley.

"Now we have got a run of games where maybe we can string a nice run together, pick up a few points and start getting back to where we should be in the table.

"Every game is hard but it is all about yourself; setting yourself up right like we did at Barnet.

"We went there with a game plan, stuck to it and executed it brilliantly, and that is why we came away with three points and a comfortable win.

"The last couple of games we have looked really solid and we look like we are going to create chances and score goals."

Wrexham took a 24th minute lead against the Bees and controlled the rest of the game with Aaron Hayden and Brisley scoring their first goals for the club.

The Reds could have won by a bigger margin and Brisley says it was a real team effort.

"Everyone was bang at it against Barnet, even the substitutes that came on," said Brisley.

"Everyone was different class and that is what you need to churn our performances, especially away from home. You need everyone to perform to their best.

"It was a brilliant away performance which was good to see.

"We created chances, minimised them to chances, and came away with a comfortable win, and it could have been by more."

Summer signing Brisley has started the last two games after recovering from a knee injury sustained in the pre-season friendly with Spennymoor.

"It feels like a long time coming," said Brisley.

"I had the set-back in pre-season with the knee injury and it took me a while to get back up to speed.

"But it has been nice to get out there the last couple of games and I really enjoyed it."

Even though Wrexham have won the last two games, and kept successive clean sheets, Brisley is not taking his place in the side for granted.

"You have got to keep on top of your game and perform every week," said Brisley.

"We have strength in depth here and we have got some great players who all want to play so you have got to perform when you play and make sure you keep hold of that shirt.

"It is good to have that strength in depth because it keeps you on your toes.

"If you end up being in your comfort zone and not thinking anyone is going to step in front of you, maybe you don't play to the best of your ability."
