WREXHAM marked their return to National League action with victory and Phil Parkinson was delighted with the attacking threat posed by his side.

The Reds took on Barnet in their first league game in nearly three weeks and left The Hive with three points following a dominant 3-0 win.

First half goals by top scorer Paul Mullin and Aaron Hayden put Parkinson's side in control and Shaun Brisley netted after the break to secure a comfortable win.

It was no more than Wrexham, who could have scored more goals after creating a number of other chances, deserved and Parkinson felt his side was a huge threat going forward in their latest away match played in front of more than 900 fans who made the trip to north London.

"It was a good, professional performance," said Parkinson.

"I like standing on the touchline and seeing the team play with nous, in terms of playing the right ball at the right time, and I felt we did that.

"I thought we looked a very strong, professional team today and more importantly, dangerous when we attacked. When we broke we looked really threatening.

"We got three goals and really should have scored more. We had some fantastic chances to increase that but we will take 3-0.

"It is the start of an important week because we have got a midweek game but it is a good way to start it."

Mullin got the ball rolling in the 24th minute with his eighth goal of the season after dispossessing Bees captain Harry Taylor, running at goal before finding the back of the net.

"What more can I say about Mulls," said Parkinson.

"He is a good player but he has also got intelligence in terms of the positions he takes up out of possession, it enables him to press like that, win the ball back and get a great goal.

"I was very pleased with his contribution. He did a good job for the team and that is just as important as the goal."

Aaron Hayden doubled Wrexham's lead just four minutes later after heading home a long throw by Ben Tozer, who was again operating as a holding midfielder in his side's new 4-2-3-1 system.

Shaun Brisley, a debutant in last Tuesday's 2-0 FA Cup win against Marine after recovering from a knee injury sustained in pre-season, got the third goal with a free header from Jordan Davies' corner 10 minutes into the second half and Parkinson was delighted to see his two centre-backs get on the scoresheet.

"We have been waiting for it," said Parkinson.

"Aaron's was a fantastic header and I am really pleased for Bris.

"He has waited patiently in the wings and did well on Tuesday. I felt he earned the right to stay in the team and he gave us a real tough edge with his performance.

"He won every header and when it had to be cleared, he cleared it, and getting the goal was the icing on the cake for his performance."
