WREXHAM are very lucky to get a second bite of the cherry against an eighth tier side after just about avoiding an embarrassing FA Cup exit.

The Reds got out of jail as Jordan Davies' brilliant free-kick in the fifth minute of stoppage time secured a 1-1 draw against Northern Premier League Division One West side Marine in their fourth qualifying round tie at Rossett Park.

Playing against a team three levels lower in the pyramid, Phil Parkinson's full strength side were outplayed from start to finish.

Marine, who took a 78th minute lead, were by far the better team and deserved to win so there would have been no complaints if the hosts had caused another upset on the back of last season's heroics and sent Wrexham tumbling out of the competition.

Here's how the players rated:

ROB LAINTON: Was the victim of a late challenge early on and had to go off with a head injury. 5

AARON HAYDEN: Had a couple of chances but kept busy at the other end with Marine the better side. 5

BEN TOZER: Marine caused Wrexham’s defence all sorts of problems throughout the game. 5

HARRY LENNON: It was tough going for the Reds’ back line. 5

BRYCE HOSANNAH: Didn't impose himself as an attacking threat. 5

JAMES JONES: Didn’t see the ball first half and only a bit more after the break as the midfield was not in the game. 4

JORDAN DAVIES: Came to the rescue with a brilliant free-kick but midfield needs to be involved more. 6

JAMIE RECKORD: Has made more of an impact down the left flank as Wrexham created very little. 5

LIAM MCALINDEN: Showed glimpses but needs to be given the ball more rather than bypassed. 5

JAKE HYDE: Had a couple of chances despite Wrexham not firing. 5

PAUL MULLIN: Lacked service but always tried to make things happen and gave everything for the cause. 6

SUBSTITUTES

CHRISTIAN DIBBLE: Got an unexpected early call and made some crucial saves to keep Wrexham in the game. 7

DIOR ANGUS: Had one chance as Reds rallied. 4

JORDAN PONTICELLI: Late sub as another attacking option. 4
