WREXHAM produced arguably their best performance of the season but Phil Parkinson's side were denied victory against Aldershot because of the weather.

Returning striker Jake Hyde and Paul Mullin from the penalty spot gave the Reds a deserved 2-0 lead at the break.

But heavy rain before and during the National League fixture took its toll on the Recreation Ground pitch and the match was abandoned early in the second half.

The blow for Parkinson was seeing Luke Young and Ben Tozer go off injured and the duo are set for a spell on the sidelines.

Here's how the players rated:

ROB LAINTON: Aldershot created one clear cut chance in the aborted game and Lainton was equal to the task. 7

AARON HAYDEN: Helped limit Aldershot to limited chances in the 50 minutes of action. 7

BEN TOZER: Solid display but facing lay-off after he was stretchered off late in the first half. 7

HARRY LENNON: Looks the part and benefitting from a run in the side. 7

BRYCE HOSANNAH: Handed a debut and was a very attack minded wing-back, almost scoring as well. 7

LUKE YOUNG: Sustained early injury. 5

JAMES JONES: Lively display and close to a first half goal. 7

JAMIE RECKORD: Difficult conditions but Reckord was up and down the left flank imposing himself. 7

JORDAN DAVIES: Had a hand in the first goal and made a difference on return from injury. 7

PAUL MULLIN: You don't save those penalties! Linked up well with his team-mates too. 7

JAKE HYDE: A goal and won the penalty, Hyde was very effective after recovering from hamstring problem. 8

SUBSTITUTES:

DEVONTE REDMOND: Holding midfield role suited him as he set up first goal. 7

TYLER FRENCH: Did everything that was asked of him. 6
