PHIL PARKINSON was disappointed with the way Wrexham allowed Stockport County to come back into the game and clinch a 2-1 win in the clash of the National League promotion favourites.

Paul Mullin's first minute goal put the Reds ahead at Edgeley Park and it was an opening half that Parkinson's men had the better of, but poor defending proved to be costly.

Stockport levelled just after the break and were on top in the second period, scoring the winner 10 minutes from time to inflict a second defeat of the season on Wrexham.

Parkinson spoke about the significance of Stockport's early reply in the second half but he feels Wrexham should have got at least a point.

"Goals change games, they change the mood in the stadium and that is what happened," said Parkinson.

"We spoke about that in the week to the lads about coming here in a bit of a hostile atmosphere and not letting it affect us.

"I felt that in the first half we had improved massively from the Grimsby game and the Southend game in the way we played, and I was generally pleased with that.

"We said all the right things at half-time what we were going to expect, what period we had to get through, and conceding a goal lifted them and they responded by getting the second goal.

"But at 1-1, we should at very least have got a draw."
