WREXHAM AFC has had to put a temporary cap on the sale of season tickets, due to unprecedented demand.

Season tickets went on general sale at the club on Wednesday morning, with thousands of fans going online or queuing up to bag their golden ticket.

And some fans were reported to have even been queueing overnight at The Racecourse ground to make sure they didn't miss out.

Fans waiting their turn for season tickets have talked about there being a real buzz in the air and how they have never had to queue for tickets like this before.

All of this is the result of an extraordinary year for Wrexham AFC, with new co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob MElhenney determined to take the club to new heights.

The club - and the town - has been put on the world stage, even getting a mention on The One Show on BBC One last night, when Ryan Reynolds chatted to co-hosts Alex Jones and Ronan Keating about his Wrexham AFC odyssey and how passionately he and Rob McElhenney feel about the club and the community.

Now more and more fans are keen to secure their place at the ringside of history, bagging those precious season tickets for the year ahead.

Limited season tickets left

The club has revealed that 5000 season tickets have already been sold, 2000 of which were renewals.

As a result, the club has now announced a temporary cap on season ticket sales, with only 200 more available for the time being.

This is to ensure that everyone with season tickets can get a seat for the first two games, while work goes on to revamp the WREXRENT Stand.

The remaining season tickets will be released on general sale at 9am tomorrow (Saturday) morning. They'll only be available online.

Unprecedented demand

Wrexham AFC announced on its website: "Thank you to all Wrexham AFC supporters who have purchased their 2021/22 season tickets online or in person.

"We have had an unprecedented demand for tickets, with more than 5,000 season tickets sold so far – of which more than 2,000 were renewals from the 2019/20 season.

"As previously announced, the WREXRENT Stand will be closed for the first two matches of the season, against Yeovil Town and Notts County, due to the ongoing refurbishment work on the concourse.

"As a result – and in order to ensure all season ticket holders are guaranteed seats at the first two games, providing we open without any other restrictions – we have taken the decision to temporarily cap the number of available season tickets at 5,200.

"Season ticket sales have now been paused. Remaining tickets will be released back into general sale on Saturday morning (August 7) at 9am until we reach 5,200 and available on-line only. "Everyone involved at the Football Club is looking forward to welcoming supporters back to the Racecourse Ground for the start of the Vanarama National League season.

"Match-day ticket information will be confirmed in due course. As stated here, our normal approach this season will be to offer match-day ticket sales 12 days before each game, with a five-day priority window for members that will apply from the Woking game on the 11th September.

"Season Tickets will go back on sale and will be valid for the Woking game at a date to be announced in the future. The prices will be reduced accordingly.

"We are sorry that we aren’t going to be able to meet demand for the first two games of the season or offer tickets for sale on a match-by-match basis, but it is unavoidable in the circumstances. Both games will now be designated as ‘All-Ticket’."
