DIOR ANGUS can feel excitement levels building at Wrexham and the striker wants to cap it off by having a "special" season.

Wrexham go into a 14th campaign in non-league as one of the title favourites following the high profile takeover by Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds earlier this year.

Phil Parkinson, who has three promotions on his CV, has been appointed manager and prolific striker Paul Mullin - League Two player of the season in 2020-21 after helping Cambridge United clinch promotion - is among the new signings with more to come.

Off the pitch and the club has secured lucrative sponsorship deals with TikTok, Expedia and Aviation Gin, earning Wrexham even more publicity from all over the world.

There is a real buzz around the club and Angus is enjoying being part of it.

"You see all the branding side of things and marketing, it is exciting for players and fans," said Angus.

"When you play for a club you take it into your heart; you understand what it means to the fans.

"The momentum is building, keep the fans behind you and it could be something special this year.

"There is a lot happening at the club; a new manager, the lads have taken to him.

"I think we are building something good."

The feel-good factor has returned to The Racecourse and supporters were back in a stadium for the first time since March 2020 to see Wrexham beat Tamworth 5-0 in Saturday's pre-season friendly at The Lamb Ground.

Around 900 fans made the trip and Angus, who joined the Reds on January transfer window deadline day and scored twice in the victory, was pleased to finally play in front of Reds supporters.

"It was nice to see the fans back," added Angus.

"It was the first time as a Wrexham player I have played in front of the fans.

"It was nice for them to be back so hopefully we stay in that situation with the fans in the ground."
