JAMIE RECKORD believes it will "epic" when Wrexham supporters are allowed to attend matches next season.

The left-back hasn't played in front of Racecourse crowds since making the switch from Solihull Moors last summer because of coronavirus pandemic restrictions.

Since he arrived in north Wales, Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have completed their high profile takeover of the club, earning Wrexham publicity from all around the world.

The feelgood factor has returned to the area and Reckord can't wait to play in front of bumper crowds and putting pen to paper on a new one year contract.

"I am delighted to re-sign," said Reckord.

"It was not the same without fans last season but I enjoyed the experience of being at Wrexham and I am just happy to be back.

"You can just imagine what Wrexham games are going to be like when the fans are going to be there.

"It is going to be epic and it is the feeling what you want to be involved in.

"I am really looking forward to the fans being back and getting behind us like they have done but actually seeing us in person."

Wrexham are heading into a first full season under new owners and Reckord admits the onus is on the players to do the business on the pitch to maintain the positive vibes.

"It is an exciting time for the football club and also for the town," said Reckord.

"But most importantly, we need to do the business on the pitch so if we keep winning, it attracts more fans and attracts more eyeballs on us.

"We just need to worry about what we do on the pitch.

"I can't wait and I just want to get started now. I just want to get back on the pitch and get going again."

Wrexham missed out on the play-offs last season after drawing 1-1 against Dagenham and Redbridge when a final day victory would have secured a top-seven berth.

But Reckord felt a much improved second half of the campaign which put Wrexham in promotion contention gives plenty of hope going into a 14th season in non-league.

"It was unbelievable the run we had," said Reckord.

"The second half of the season was really good, although we had a couple of games where we slipped up and should have got a point out of or won.

"We had a good run and were unfortunate not to make the play-offs."

Reckord won't dwell on the heartache of failing to secure a play-off spot and says Wrexham will come back stronger in 2020-21 when a new manager will be at the helm after Dean Keates' contract was not renewed.

"I had a few disappointments with Solihull but it makes you stronger," added Reckord.

"You just keep going. When you get knocked down, you get back up.

"With the direction that the club is going in, hopefully everyone can buy into it and we will be fine."
