WREXHAM could still finish fifth in the National League and be at home in the play-off elimination round but Dean Keates is not looking too far ahead and just wants to make sure his side extend their season.

The Reds go into their final day showdown against Dagenham and Redbridge at Victoria Road with their destiny in their own hands after losing just once in the last nine outings.

But the competition for the last two spots in the top seven is fierce with five clubs in contention to join Torquay, Stockport, Hartlepool and Notts County in the play-offs.

Although County have booked their place, sixth placed Wrexham would finish fifth - and be at home in the first play-off match in front of Reds' supporters - if they win at Dagenham and the Magpies lose against Bromley.

But Keates insists his side just have to make sure they take care of their own business and then look at what happens elsewhere.

"I am aware of any game in the division. We know the fixtures and we look at them but my concern has only ever been about ourselves," said Keates.

"We have just got to go there and win our football match and if Notts County beat Bromley, we have not got fifth place.

"We have just got to win our match and see what results come in after. It is all about us, we have got to focus on ourselves.

"It is going to be a very difficult game with Dagenham, they have been in unbelievable form and only just missed out on chasing down a play-off spot themselves.

"There are going to be Dagenham fans in there so that is something we have got to manage, the emotions, and be mindful that any 50-50 decisions might not go our way.

"My players have to be in control of their emotions and don't let that distract us from our game-plan, just be aware of ourselves and be mindful of what we are there to do for ourselves."
