DIOR ANGUS declared himself happy with Wrexham's points-haul over the Bank Holiday weekend as the race for promotion hots up.

The Reds beat Solihull Moors 2-1 at home on Saturday and then came from two-nil down to draw 2-2 at Maidenhead United 48 hours later.

Four points from a possible six leaves Dean Keates' side sixth in the National League with five games to go.

The competition for a top-seven finish remains fierce but Angus, who scored his sixth Wrexham goal in Monday's stalemate, remains positive about his side's chances.

"If you had offered us that on Friday, we would have took it so we are pleased," said Angus.

"It is tight up there and it is probably going to be tight until two games to go.

"Every point is valuable at this moment in time, we have just got to keep plugging away and looking forward rather than looking over our shoulder.."

Angus has made 19 starts since making the switch from Barrow during the winter transfer window but was a substitute for the first time at Maidenhead as Keates, who made four changes from the side that beat Solihull, elected to go with recent non-contract signings Gold Omotayo and Chris Sang in a new-look attack.

The 27-year-old understands why the Reds' boss decided to shake things up.

"I think we needed to make changes just to keep people fresh because they have been playing, and also to give lads who haven't been playing minutes," added Angus.

"We have got a strong squad and everyone is going to be needed."
