DIOR ANGUS is happy with the position Wrexham find themselves in with five games remaining and admits a play-off place 'is ours to lose'.

Dean Keates' side came from two-nil down to draw 2-2 against Maidenhead United at York Road on Monday and stay sixth in the National League.

Wrexham are two points ahead of Chesterfield, the side immediately outside the play-offs, and Angus is pleased the Reds' destiny is in their own hands going down the final straight.

"It is in our own hands, it is ours to lose," said Angus.

"We have just got to keep doing what we are doing.

"We are in a good place at the minute and let's see what becomes of it."

Angus, who helped Barrow clinch automatic promotion to the Football League last season, is not concerned about Wrexham's rivals for a top-seven finish and is just focussed on the Reds taking care of their own business.

"You have just got to think 'it is about us, it is not about anyone else'," said Angus.

"You can get a bit sucked into thinking 'if this team does this or that in their game in hand'.

"It is about us and we just need to apply ourselves.

"If at the end of the season we do what we need to do, we have played well and we don't make the play-offs, then you hold your hands up and say it wasn't meant to be.

"We have just got to concentrate on ourselves and see where it takes us."

Three of Wrexham's remaining five games are at The Racecourse, starting with Saturday's visit of 16th placed Yeovil, and Angus added: "You are familiar to your surroundings but whatever is put in front of us, we have just got to do our best and follow the game-plan for said game, and get the points that we need."

Wrexham are finding form at the right time as Monday's stalemate against Maidenhead extended the unbeaten run to five games.

The Magpies held a two-goal advantage at the break, Sam Barratt opening the scoring with a spectacular strike from his own half, but Keates' men staged a terrific second half fight-back.

Jordan Davies reduced the deficit and Angus came off the bench to earn a point that the frontman felt was thoroughly deserved.

"We were on top for most of the game and I think we really did deserve it," said Angus.

"It was probably one point gained rather than two points lost considering we were 2-0 down.

"The lads were playing well and they knew it.

"The first goal was a freak, the wind didn't help it.

"It was just a case of doing what we were doing and we would get back in the game."

Angus, who joined Wrexham in the winter transfer window, was delighted to score his sixth goal since arriving at The Racecourse.

"It is always nice to score and the fact that it put us back in the game was even nicer," said Angus.
