IT was important not to lose against play-off rivals Chesterfield but Wrexham lacked the quality needed in the final third to secure victory at The Racecourse.

Dean Keates' side were solid at the back but created very little at the other end of the pitch as they drew 0-0 against the Spireites.

Victory leaves the Reds seventh in the National League with seven huge games remaining.

Here's how the players rated:

ROB LAINTON: Back in the side and pulled off some decent saves to deny Chesterfield. 7

FIACRE KELLEHER: It wasn't easy for Wrexham's back three but they dug in and got the clean sheet. 6

SHAUN PEARSON: The Reds skipper kept the Spireites at bay and a third straight shutout. 6

THEO VASSELL: Brilliant goal-line block denied Chesterfield in second half and was solid throughout. 7

REECE HALL-JOHNSON: We're used to him bombing down the wing but was less of an attacking threat. 5

PAUL RUTHERFORD: Was effective in previous two games but didn't make the same impact. 5

LUKE YOUNG: The Wrexham midfield was unable to take game by the scruff of the neck. 5

JORDAN DAVIES: Played some good passes but spent the last 25 minutes filling in at left wing-back. 6

JAMIE RECKORD: Chesterfield didn't let the wing-backs have much joy. 5

GOLD OMOTAYO: Didn't get into the game but had a rare chance as he forced goalkeeper into a save. 5

DIOR ANGUS: Quiet afternoon for the striker but he had very little service. 5

SUBSTITUTES

JAY HARRIS: Made a big difference as he got Wrexham on the front foot when he came on. 6

KEANU MARSH-BROWN: Unable to influence proceedings. 4
