JORDAN DAVIES described it as "unspeakable" and "amazing" after scoring his first professional hat-trick - and more than double his career goals tally!

The 22-year-old, who hails from Coedpoeth, bagged a first-half treble in Wrexham's superb 4-0 victory over play-off rivals Halifax Town at The Shay.

After starting his career at his home-town club, the former academy graduate joined Brighton and Hove Albion in January 2017 but returned to The Racecourse in the summer after leaving the Seagulls.

Davies bagged his first Reds' goal in the 3-0 victory over Bromley on March 27, adding to a solitary strike during a loan spell with Bangor City when he was a teenager, so to get a hat-trick was completely out of the blue.

"I am buzzing. I definitely didn't see it coming!" said Davies.

"I said to the lads, I don't think I have scored three professional goals all my life so to score three in the first half is unbelievable for me.

"I scored my first goal for Wrexham the other week and I think I got one for Bangor.

"That is about it because I don't count goals for Brighton under 23s - that is not men's football - so I have more than doubled my career tally now!

"I am just so happy to help the team and to score my first ever hat-trick, it is unspeakable - amazing.

"Hopefully I can keep my good form going in the last nine games to help the team."

Davies opened the scoring with a close range finish, made it 2-0 after dispossessing a defender and completed his hat-trick with a stunning strike from outside the area.

Victory enabled Wrexham, who lost their previous three games, to leapfrog Halifax back into seventh position and Davies knew the importance of ending the barren run.

"The second one was good in its own way and the third one was just a good strike on the half-volley," said Davies.

"Scoring a hat-trick means everything to me, being a local lad and in such a big game.

"It wasn't a season-defining game but it could have gone down as that if we had lost because we would have been six points from the play-offs and Halifax would have had a game in hand.

"I think I was just saving the goals for the biggest game!"

Wrexham have nine games remaining and Davies believes the landslide win is the perfect confidence booster in the push for promotion.

"We were on a bad run and to come away with a 4-0 win means a lot to the lads," said Davies.

"Hopefully we can start a good run for the last nine games of the season.

"This gives everyone a bit of that belief that we have lost over the last couple of weeks so let's take that into the next game and fight for a play-off place.

"More of the same; play on the front foot and take our opportunities when they come."
