KEANU MARSH-BROWN believes his experience of winning promotion from non-league will help Wrexham realise their goal.

The 28-year-old winger has joined the Reds on non-contract terms after impressing manager Dean Keates in training last week and made his debut in Saturday's 3-0 reversal against Stockport County.

That was Wrexham's third successive defeat and it leaves the eighth placed Reds three points behind tonight's opponents Halifax Town who occupy the final play-off spot.

Marsh-Brown helped Barnet win the National League title in 2014-15 and was in the Forest Green Rovers side that beat Tranmere Rovers 3-1 in the play-off final two seasons later.

Wrexham's promotion push has taken a dent but Marsh-Brown is looking to help his new club get back on track.

"I know what Wrexham are fighting for - promotion," said Marsh-Brown.

"I have been there a couple of times so I know what needs to happen.

"I went to two play-off finals with Forest Green.

"Obviously I lost one and then went up, and I got promoted with Barnet before.

"I know what needs to happen with my experience going into the play-offs."

Marsh-Brown last played for Gloucester City whose National League North campaign has been null and voided because of the coronvirus pandemic.

Prior to his brief spell with Gloucester, Marsh-Brown played in America’s USL Championship for Memphis 901 and he has won 11 caps for Guyana.

It was after returning from international duty for the recent World Cup qualifiers that Marsh-Brown answered Dean Keates' call, with the Reds' boss short of attacking options due to top scorer Kwame Thomas facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after rupturing an Achilles' and Jordan Ponticelli still missing with a hamstring problem.

"I played in America last year, came back and went down to Gloucester just to keep fit at the time," said Marsh-Brown.

"I signed and ended up playing a few games there but the season finished.

"I went away with the national team for World Cup qualifiers a couple of weeks ago and when I came back, I had a few days with the family.

"Then I had a phone call with the gaffer here at Wrexham and I was straight up here in the car the next day. When I heard it could get done, I was here straight away.

"I came up on Thursday and trained, and it was done Thursday afternoon.

"It was just waiting for the international clearance and Friday I knew that it was all sorted going into Saturday's game, and I had a bit of piece of mind.

"I am very happy. I jumped at the chance. It is a massive club and obviously I know this league inside out."

Marsh-Brown, joined at The Racecourse by fellow new boys Gold Omotayo and Chris Sang, started alongside Dior Angus in attack against Stockport.

He is now looking forward to more game time in Wrexham's final 10 matches.

"I was excited to make my debut and get to know the players," said Marsh-Brown, who was replaced by Omotayo after 57 minutes.

"It is difficult coming into a squad when you have not really trained or played with anyone so it is just building up relationships with everyone.

"I am looking forward to more minutes on the pitch."

Hollywood megastars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds completed their takeover at The Racecourse in February.

Marsh-Brown is focussed on helping Wrexham achieve their targets on the pitch but the striker admits his new club has got a bright future off it.

"It is good for the club and the community, and things going forward," added Marsh-Brown

"Hopefully we can do what we need to do and everyone will be successful."
