HUW GRIFFITHS says the Cymru Premier League is the best place for on-loan Wrexham duo Jake Bickerstaff and Max Cleworth to raise their profile.

Caernarfon Town boss Griffiths has signed the Reds youngsters, who are getting plenty of game time after Welsh football’s top division restarted earlier this month.

Griffiths, the former Cefn Druids chief, said: “The Cymru Premier League is the best place for these two if they want to raise their profile - better than going to teams in the English non-league system.

“All the games are televised so Jake and Max will get exposure and this league is getting better all the time. The standard has improved so much and with all the ‘in-stat’ technology we have in the game, Dean Keates and Andy Davies will have all the information fed back to them.”

Griffiths is grateful for Keates, who was set to become his right hand man at Druids before getting the Wrexham job, and long-time friend Davies for letting the two first year Racecourse professionals switch to The Oval.

“I’ve known Dean for a long time and Andy even longer,” added Griffiths. “We were in the Wales under 18s team together. They helped me out with players when I was at Druids and it’s good to get two energetic youngsters here.”

The Reds duo were signed on the same day Nathan Craig re-signed for his home-town club.

Craig, the former Everton and Torquay player, started the Cymru campaign at Flint Town United but is now back at Caernarfon.

“He only lives a stone’s throw from the ground and it’s great to have him back,” added Griffiths.

“He’s got a wand of a left foot, lots of experience and he’ll improve our set pieces.

“I’m really pleased with the three additions we’ve made.”

But Griffiths looks resigned to losing talented teenager Telor Williams.

The 19-year-old left-sided wing back, who had a trial at Leicester City 18 months ago, has also been interesting The New Saints.

“He’s certainly one for the future,” added Griffiths. “He’s six foot two and he has a great left foot.”

Bickerstaff scored Caernarfon’s winner as they won in front of the Sgorio television cameras again with a thrilling 3-2 win over Cardiff Met.

“Our unbeaten run is certainly something to celebrate and the points we have gained in the last six games is second only to the league leaders Connah’s Quay,” said a delighted Griffiths, who went 2-0 up through Jack Kenny’s 12th minute effort and a penalty from Mike Hayes 10 minutes into the second half.

Met’s Harry Owen pulled a goal back before striker Bickerstaff struck with nine minutes left,

A penalty from Eliot Evans four minutes into stoppage time proved too late for the visitors to mount a comeback.

The win made sure Caernarfon head into Friday’s final game of the phase one fixtures in sixth place.

They are three points clear of Haverfordwest County, who nailed Newtown 3-0. Kieran Lewis, Cameron Keetch and Marcus Griffiths got the goals.
