ANDY MORRISON wants new signing Neil Danns to be inspired by team-mates George Horan, Michael Wilde and Danny Harrison in the Connah’s Quay Nomads’ dressing room.

Former Premier League star Danns maybe 38 but that hasn’t stopped Horan, who is 39, 37-year-old Wilde and Harrison, 38, from giving their all for the cause as Nomads look to hang on to their crown as their league campaign restarts tomorrow.

“I remember saying to Danny, George and Michael, will you give me one year - and that was five years ago,” said Morrison, whose side host Newtown, who kicked off the restart with an impressive 2-0 win over Penybont on Tuesday night.

“Neil’s a good signing for this football club but I’m loathed to say experienced when I mention Danny, Wildey and George. The way they play, the way they train, they are like 24-year-olds.

“They are also tremendous characters in the dressing room and have given so much over the years and are proper old school.

“Having Neil, and what he brings, can only help us but we’ve also brought in other decent players like Tom Moore, Johnny Hunt, Doug Tharme and Rio Glean.

“It’s not about numbers, it’s about quality and Neil brings great quality and great experience and when those games get a bit tasty later on and it’s a big high pressure game, and there are huge pressure games for different reasons in this league, you want people that have been at and played at a level where that game won’t phase them.

“It’s important we’ve got the numbers because it’s going to be a change playing so many games. Normally it’s been just Saturday to Saturday but with playing Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday, we are going to need strength in depth.”

Morrison will have a few selection headaches as he aims to put out his best 11 against a Newtown side who don't like life at The Deeside Stadium.

Since Morrison’s arrival in 2015, the sides have met six times in Deeside with Nomads winning all six.

Morrison is just happy to be back playing in what will be the first league game since play was suspended before Christmas.

“We’re back playing football, back doing what we want to do,” added Morrison. “I couldn’t wait to get out of the house and start planning for this.

“We’ve had to wait for a few weeks now and it’s great. I’ve woken up the last couple of morning with a nervous stomach which I haven’t had now for two to three months and it just means that football’s coming back again!”
