IT was nowhere near good enough in the first half but Wrexham turned it around after the break to run our 4-1 winners over Wealdstone at The Racecourse.

Dean Keates' side produced a lacklustre performance in the opening 45 minutes and trailed 1-0 against the lowly Stones.

But whatever was said by the Reds' boss at half-time had the desired effect as Wrexham were a different team after the interval.

Much more of an attacking threat, Wrexham were on the front foot and had a good go at the visitors.

Chances came and Wrexham took them with leading scorer Kwame Thomas bagging a brace to take his tally for the season to eight goals, with Luke Young and man of the match Dior Angus also on target.

Wealdstone were poor but you can only beat what is in front of you and Wrexham did a good job in the second half to go fifth in the National League.

More of the same and Wrexham can remain on course for a play-off spot.

Here's how the players rated:

CHRISTIAN DIBBLE: Indecisive for the cross that led to Wealdstone scoring, had little else to do. 5

FIACRE KELLEHER: Will be given tougher tests against better teams but still a solid performance. 6

THEO VASSELL: Back from injury and was doing well but blotted his copybook in getting sent off. 5

ELLIOTT DURRELL: First start since end of December and did okay after the break following quiet first half. 6

JORDAN DAVIES: Showed glimpses in the second half. 6

LUKE YOUNG: Much more in the game second half and scored a superb goal to put Wrexham ahead. 7

JAMIE RECKORD: Nearly scored early goal and more of an attacking threat second half. 6

DIOR ANGUS: Worked his socks off, had an assist and deserved to score the Reds' fourth goal. 8

KWAME THOMAS: Scored twice and woodwork denied him a hat-trick in stoppage time. 7

JAMES HORSFIELD: Gave midfield fresh legs. 4

PAUL RUTHERFORD: Brought on late in game. 4

JORDAN PONTICELLI: Had a late chance. 4
