FIACRE KELLEHER says all the Wrexham players want to be part of an exciting future at The Racecourse but the centre-back knows results will determine whether they are part of the journey.

Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are on the verge of completing their takeover with the actors vowing to invest £2million immediately when they become owners.

The duo want to make Wrexham a "global force" but the immediate priority on the pitch is ending the Football League exile, with the Reds currently spending a 13th season in the fifth tier.

Expectations will be high and Kelleher accepts some players will fall by the wayside if they don't produce the goods.

"We all want to be a part of it and the best way to do that is to perform out on the pitch," said Kelleher.

"If we do our jobs and we get this club to where we all want to go then we will be a part of this journey.

"Everybody knows they are fighting for a place and everybody knows they are fighting for a contract, that's just how it is.

"You have to give you it your all."

Wrexham ended a poor run of form at the end of last year by beating bottom of the table Dover Athletic 3-1 last Saturday in their first game of 2021.

Victory took Wrexham up to eighth place in the National League, only outside the play-offs on goal difference, and Kelleher, preparing for tomorrow's trip to Chesterfield, says there can be no let-up in trying to realise the promotion goal.

"Everybody wants to be part of this," said Kelleher. "With new owners comes more security for footballers at this level and you really have to fight hard for it.

"I am sure everybody is going to be giving it their all now for the next four of five months of the season so that is massive.

"The games come thick and fast so if we can come away with the points that we want, I am sure we will be in good stead."
