DIXIE MCNEIL is just like every other Wrexham supporter - he can't wait for the club's takeover to be completed!

Racecourse legend McNeil turned 74 on Saturday and although he never got his birthday wish, Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are expected to be confirmed as the new owners this week.

"I was hoping it would go through on my birthday," said club president McNeil.

"To me that would have been ideal, something never to forget.

"I think it is imminent, it just waiting for the last procedures to be completed."

The actors will invest £2million immediately once they take control.

McNeil believes that with kind of financial backing, Wrexham will not only be able to end their 13 season stay in non-league but continue climbing the Football League ladder.

"Once you know that somebody is going to take over the club, it doesn't matter who you are, you just can't wait can you," said McNeil.

"With all due respect to everybody beforehand that has owned the football club, these people do have a lot of money which will help the club go forward.

"Without being daft, you are not talking about one league. Not just getting back into the Football League, you are on about going up the Football League as well.

"It is going to be interesting."
