DEAN KEATES is looking forward to a "massive eight days" when Wrexham play three games and will hopefully start to climb the National League table.

The Reds have seen a number of matches postponed in recent weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic while the festive period double-header against Macclesfield was shelved because the Silkmen were wound-up before the 2020-21 season kicked off.

However, Wrexham, down to 15th in the standings, have a hat-trick of matches to look forward to in a short space of time.

Keates' side entertain Woking on Saturday in their first game of 2021 before heading to Eastleigh next Tuesday.

There is another rearranged fixture against Dover at The Racecourse on Saturday January 16 to complete a busy schedule, and Keates knows the importance of the matches.

"It has not been ideal and it has been well highlighted what happened to Macclesfield," said Keates.

"We lost the Dover game and Eastleigh game before that so the games have been few and far between.

"It has been disappointing but we have got to get back to it and we have got a massive eight days coming up with three games.

"All being well all three go ahead."

Wrexham have not played a home league game since losing 1-0 to Altrincham on December 1.

Although matches are still being played in front of empty stands with no supporters present, Keates is pleased to be back at The Racecourse for two of the upcoming games.

"It has been a long time since we have had a home game if you take the Trophy game out of the equation," said Keates.

"It will be nice to get back to The Racecourse for two home games but as it stands at the moment, it doesn't make much difference because no fans are allowed in the stadium but it nullifies them trips for us."

Wrexham have slipped down the table due to their recent inactivity and losing three of their last four games, although the Reds - three points off the play-off places - have games in hand on some of the teams above them.

Bottom of the table Dover have only played 10 games - the fewest number in the division - with matches being postponed because of the pandemic and Keates says the table makes false reading with teams having a different number of fixtures.

"If Dover win all their games in hand, they go second," said Keates.

"You can't look at the table, it is going to chop and change, and I would imagine more games will be called off because of the pandemic.

"All you can do is do your best when you play a football match and eventually it will pan out towards the end of the season.

"All you can do is plan and prepare for games. We just go about our business."
