FORMER Premier League star David Jones would love to be part of Wrexham Football Club's new exciting era.

With the much-publicised takeover of the club by Hollywood film stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds expected to be signed, sealed and delivered, Jones, who played for Wolves, Derby and Burnley in the top flight, said he's be interested in playing for the club he watched as a boy.

Now 36, cultured midfielder Jones, kicked off his early footballing days in the Wrexham and District Youth League with Marford and Gresford before heading off to Manchester United.

"It's an amazing story with Wrexham and what the new takeover would mean to the club and the town," said Jones, who has been training with Football League new boys Barrow.

"David Dunn, who I used to play with at Blackburn, asked me to train with them. He's gone now but I know the new manager, who has taken over, Michael Jolley.

"But Wrexham is certainly something that would interest me. I used to live there and used to watch them.

"I'm fit and feeling good at the moment. And I've still go the hunger to play."
