ANDY MORRISON was pleased with his side’s ‘quality’ as Connah’s Quay Nomads put on a show in front of the cameras against Barry Town United.

Jordan Cotterill gave the visitors an eighth minute lead but Michael Wilde - with his sixth goal in seven games - levelled three minutes before Nomads went on to secure a 3-1 win

“I really enjoyed the game,” said Morrison. “I thought we were terrific all the way through. We sorted a few little aches and pains out as we went along and we definitely looked a stronger team as the game went on.”

Declan Poole made sure Nomads, who are six points behind leaders The New Saints but with a game in hand, went in ahead at the break.

And Aeron Edwards headed home a superb third goal after a great run and cross from wing-back Danny Davies.

“To go down to a very good team like Barry in a live game, it’s a great response,” added Morrison.

“It could have been a lot more but you’ll always take a 3-1 win after going 1-0 down so early.

“It’s just a little bit more quality all over the pitch - that’s not disrespecting them in any way.

“But if we get the weight of a pass right, the weight of a cross right, the run, a bit more guile around the box, it could have been a lot more.”

Morrison feels his side are improving game by game and with the exception of striker Jamie Insall, his squad are injury free.

Victory at home to Flint Town United in tomorrow night’s derby at The Deeside Stadium will make sure the champions will have TNS in sight heading into the busy December period.

“We’re in a really good place at the minute,” added Morrison. “We’ve got a fantastic honest bunch.

“Danny Davies has torn through the whole pitch, Declan has got a tap-in. But Declan has not made himself vociferous enough to get the information across for a simple square ball and a tap-in, then it could have been a much easier afternoon.”

Greg Draper was The New Saints super sub as he hit a 23 minute second-half hat-trick in the 4-1 thrashing of Aberystwyth Town.

Draper (pictured right) came on in the 63rd minute at Park Hall for Dean Ebbe, who had put Scott Ruscoe’s side ahead in the first half.

And he had an amazing impact on the game with the New Zealand international scoring just two minutes after coming on.

He added another six minutes from time before heading home a third with two minutes to go.

Steven Hewitt fired the consolation goal for Aber while it also finished 4-1 at The Oval where Huw Griffiths’ Caernarfon Town were beaten by Haverfordwest County.

Will Evans fired Bala Town to glory against Newtown at Maes Tegid.

Bala unveiled new signing Gary Roberts prior to kick-off with the 36-year-old former Welshpool Town star joining from Wigan Athletic.

But it was Evans who took centre stage in a 3-1 victory.

Lassana Mendes set up Evans to break the deadlock on 30 minutes and the same combination were involved in Bala’s second goal.

Newtown sub Matthew Williams gave the mid-Walians some hope but Chris Venables set up Steve Leslie to secure three points for Colin Caton’s side.
