ELLIOTT DURRELL can sense the buzz around the club following Wrexham's "amazing" takeover and the midfielder admits the players need to match that excitement on the pitch.

The Reds have made headlines all over the world with Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney set to become new owners of the club in the next few weeks.

While everyone is talking about the takeover, Wrexham have endured a slow start to a 13th season in non-league but Dean Keates' side ended a run of four games without a win by beating Hartlepool 1-0 on Tuesday.

Durrell, ahead of tomorrow's home game with Aldershot, knows the Reds have to continue producing the goods so there is a feel-good factor on and off the pitch.

"I saw clips on my phone after their Zoom call with fans and when you see the two superstars who are buying the club talking about the football club that you play for, it is amazing!" said Durrell.

"We are fully focused on what we can achieve on the pitch.

"We set our standards high, although we might not have reached those recently.

"With everything that is going on off the pitch, it is vitally important that we match the excitement that is happening in and around the town with results on the pitch. That's what we did at Hartlepool."

Durrell added: "This club is now in the spotlight globally and we are in charge of our destiny.

"We are the ones that want to be here, we want to take this club forward and we know that we have got the capabilities of doing that.

"It is in our hands and we have to make sure that we match the excitement off the pitch, on it."
