DEAN KEATES was given the green light to take charge of Wrexham’s pre-season friendly with Kidderminster just four hours before kick-off.

Keates has missed a large part of the week leading up to the fixture after being forced to undertake a test for coronavirus.

Thankfully, the Reds boss received the all-clear on Saturday morning and made his way to Aggborough to watch his side secure a 4-0 success.

Luke Young, Kwarme Thomas, Adi Yussuf and Elliott Durrell made it a happy end to a strange week for Keates.

“As most parents will find over these next weeks and months, I had the dreaded text confirming that there is a confirmed case at my daughter’s school,” he revealed.

“I spent three or four days away from the football club, but luckily enough I got a half-past-nine text this morning saying I was negative, so I made it to the game, otherwise I’d have been watching it myself on YouTube.”
