ANTHONY JEFFREY has vowed to make the upcoming campaign “a big one” for himself and Wrexham.

The winger, who played for Dover Athletic last season, has joined the Reds following a successful trial.

A Guyana international, Jeffrey caught the eye with his first-half performance in last Tuesday’s 4-1 win against Cefn Druids in Wrexham's opening friendly.

But Jeffrey, who has also played for Sutton United, Boreham Wood and Forest Green Rovers in the National League, insists there is more to come.

“I am over the moon,” said Jeffrey.”I have been on trial and it has gone very well.

“I have really enjoyed my time getting to know the players and I was happy with how I played against Druids.

“I have played against Wrexham and the gaffer before so I think he knows about me but it was nice to show my worth again.

“I have got more to give but it was a good start.

“I have not played in nine months so it was good to get my legs going again.

“I just need to get my head down now for the rest of the season."

Jeffrey, who scored a spectacular late winner for Dover at The Racecourse in the 2018-19 season, is ready to play his part in a promotion push.

“I am more than ready for a new challenge,” said Jeffrey.

“It is not an easy league but we have got a good squad.

"With the squad that we have got, I feel like we have got more than enough to compete at the top."

On what supporters can expect from him, Jeffrey added: "I am an out and out winger. I am exciting, I like to make runs and I will beat players. I will definitely get fans off their seats and I will have assists.

“I scored at Wrexham before so hopefully I can get goals like that.

“I want to be in the team from the start and play every game.

“I am really determined to make this year a big one for myself and for Wrexham.”
