DEAN KEATES has added to attacking options by completing the signing of winger Anthony Jeffrey.

The 25-year-old, who was with National League rivals Dover Athletic last term, joins Wrexham following a successful trial and is Dean Keates' ninth new recruit of the summer.

Jeffrey caught the eye in Wrexham's 4-1 win against Cymru Premier neighbours Cefn Druids at The Racecourse on Tuesday, impressing on the left flank during the first half of the Reds' opening pre-season friendly.

After starting his career with Arsenal, Jeffrey played for a number of clubs including Boreham Wood, Wycombe Wanderers and Forest Green Rovers before moving to Sutton United in July 2017.

During the 2017-18 season, Jeffrey spent time loan at Dover and he made the move permanent in the summer of 2018.

A Guyana international who appeared in the CONCACAF Gold Cup last summer, Jeffrey scored for Dover in their 1-0 win against Graham Barrow's Wrexham in January 2019, and he made 14 league appearances for the Whites last season.

Jeffrey is expected to feature when Wrexham host a Salford City XI in their next pre-season outing on Saturday.

He told the club's official website: “Everyone is playing off each other. We’ve played our first game together on Tuesday and, while I only played the first-half, the cohesion is there already.

"We’re only going to get fitter and stronger. It was my first game for nine months and I’ve come out of it feeling fit and strong. That was a big first step.

“It’s an incredible club. A massive club. The lads are great – I’ve known a lot of the lads actually for a long time – they’ve all welcomed me and had me as one of the lads.

“I’ve always said I want to play with a lot of fans, I said this before COVID happened – I want to be at a big club this year, and I really liked the idea of Wrexham."
