GRAHAM BARROW has left Shrewsbury Town after boss Sam Ricketts revealed: “We’ve slightly re-arranged things over the summer.”

Both Ricketts and Barrow ended up managing Wrexham in the 2018/19 campaign that saw the former controversially take the Shrews role just months after being given his first management job at The Racecourse.

Barrow then reluctantly took charge but despite inspiring his team to a 5-1 Boxing Day win over big-spending Salford City, the former Chester and Wigan boss resigned after just 13 games in the hotseat.

The Shrewsbury shake-up has seen Barrow leave as Rickett’s right hand man with coach Jon Pitts also moving on .

Former Welsh international Ricketts explained his decisions on the club’s official website: “Jon Pitts is no longer with us and Graham Barrow has left as well. Graham has left for person reasons.

“We’ll continue to talk to him but he’s left his role for personal reasons.

“Dean Whitehead will step up and be my assistant manager. It’ll be myself and Dean and we’ll be the coaching element of the backroom staff.

“Dean has great experience as a player and like myself is a young and up and coming, with some great experience as a coach working under some very good managers.

“The dynamic now is very simple, Dean Whitehead will step up to become assistant manager, so myself and Dean will become the coaching element of the backroom staff. As we all know, Dean has had great experience as a player and is now a young up-and-coming coach having already gained some great knowledge and experience working under some very, very good managers.

“I’m very happy with how things are now, pre-season has gone extremely well so far, I’ve been delighted with everything. Training has been very good with a very high standard so I’m pleased with how things are looking.”

The Shrews statement added: “The club would like to thank Graham and Jon for their hard work throughout their time at the club and wish them all the best in the future.”
