JORDAN PONTICELLI had no qualms about swapping the Championship for regular football in the National League.

The 21-year-old striker has signed a two-year deal at Wrexham, where he scored twice in five games during a loan spell last season, after leaving Coventry City.

Although under contract with the newly promoted Sky Blues where chances were limited when he initially arrived at The Racecourse in January, Ponticelli was not content with being a bit-part player and jumped at the chance to sign permanently for Dean Keates’ Reds.

"I had another year on my contract at Coventry but the two clubs came to an agreement to get me here on a permanent," said Ponticelli, who becomes the third new signing of the summer following Jordan Reckord and Elliott Durrell's arrival.

"I am very happy for the boys at Coventry that they have got themselves in the Championship and back to where the club belongs, but I wasn't stupid.

"I knew that I wasn't going to get much of a look-in because they had done that so it was more to focus on myself and to be playing, and the best place for that was Wrexham.

"I've been here before and really enjoyed it so I am very happy to sign.

"The fans were great, the players were great and so was the manager, so for me it was a no brainer to try and pick up where I left off.

"Help myself out but also help the club out as well."
