DEAN KEATES insists that no contact has been made with Johnny Hunt over a Racecourse return.

But Reds boss Keates didn’t completely dismiss the idea of Hunt, pictured, out of contract after leaving Scottish Premiership outfit Hamilton, heading back to Wrexham.

Keates is in the market for a left-back after James Jennings opted to leave Wrexham for Stockport County, and his former team-mate has been linked with filling the void.

On the Hunt rumours, Keates, who hopes to return for pre-season training by the middle of next month, played them with a straight bat, saying: “I’m interested in signing anyone that could come in and do a job for the football club.

“Has any contact been made? Not as it stands.”

Jordan Davies is another former Red to be linked with replacing Jennings, but the youngster has been pushed further forward during his time with Brighton, who released him this summer.
