FLINT TOWN UNITED have secured their second eye-catching signing of the close season by snapping up Wes Baynes.

The versatile former Wrexham and Chester man joins Rob Hughes in making the move to the Essity Stadium, the 31-year-old heading to Flint from Aberystwyth Town.

Baynes will be joined in Flintshire next season by Jordan Barrow, Chris Chung-Li and John Davies, who have penned deals for the 2020/21 campaign, which the Silkmen hope will be spent playing Cymru Premier football.

Niall McGuinness' men are set to learn whether they will be promoted to the top-flight as Cymru North runners-up on Wednesday.

If they are promoted, Flint will enjoy a derby with Connah's Quay Nomads, who have agreed a new one-year contract with defender John Disney.

The 28-year-old, who has made over 100 competitive starts for Nomads, is delighted to extend his stay with Andy Morrison's men.

He said: “I’m happy to have extended my stay back at Connah’s Quay - I’m really looking forward to getting back in training with the great bunch of lads we have and continue the success the club has seen over the last few seasons.

"I hope everyone is safe and well and hopefully we’ll see you all soon!”

Nomads' boss Morrison added: “I’ve worked with Dis for over a decade - I’ve watched him grow not only as a footballer but more importantly as a man.

"He’s a player I trust and you can never have too many of them in your team.”

Cefn Druids have also continued to build for the new Cymru Premier campaign by agreeing fresh terms with Jamie Reed.

The experienced striker will combine playing with a new head coach role of the club's Under-19s side, who ply their trade in the Cymru Premier Development League North.

Druids chairman Des Williams said: "It's a fantastic signing for us. Jamie has scored goals wherever he's played and we hope he continues that with us and passes on his knowledge and expertise to the younger players.

“He expressed a desire to start coaching and the chance to coach the U19s suddenly came up and we offered him the role and we’re delighted he’s accepted."

While Reed takes charge of the U19s, Paul Allman will lead the U23s with Shaun Colley heading up the U16s.

Bala Town have agreed new contracts with ex-Wrexham duo Anthony Stephens and Steven Leslie as well as talisman Chris Venables.

Defender Stuart Jones has left Maes Tegid after nine years, Colin Caton saluting the stalwart, saying: “I’m sad that Stu’s time with us has come to an end and I wish him all the best.

"He’s the last member of the Port Talbot play-off final squad that’s been with us.

"Stuart’s been a great servant to the club – his attitude, his approach, determination, everything what he’s given us has been fantastic.”

Former Bala duo, goalkeeper Josh Tibbetts and striker Mike Hayes, have swapped Maes Tegid for Caernarfon, who have also snapped up Iddon Price and Cai Jones from Porthmadog.

Striker Jamie Breese has left The Oval, heading to Newtown after five years with Caernarfon.

Gresford Athletic, meanwhile, have announced that first team manager Richard Capper and assistant boss Nick Ward have left the club.

Director of football Steve Halliwell said: "A pleasure to work with @capper07 for the past three seasons, wish you the best of luck in whatever you do in the future mate."

On Ward's departure, Halliwell added: "Huge thanks to @nickward05 for everything that you did this season for us all mate, you’ve left a big hole to fill, good luck mate."

Airbus have also seen someone leave with midfielder George Hughes confirming his departure from the Airfield.
