DEAN KEATES is still fielding calls from agents - but the Reds’ boss doesn’t expect the transfer market to suddenly spring to life.

The regular National League season has been over since the end of March but promotion and relegation is still to be decided throughout the pyramid.

Some clubs have informed players of their futures but Wrexham are biding their time on announcing a retained list, and when asked if he would be keen to try and secure the services of a top target if one became available, boss Keates said: “I’ve spoken to agents and other managers, but no-one is doing anything.

“When would contracts start from? It’s all up in the air at the moment when we might be able to restart, but that might change soon.

“My opinion is that we might be able to start back around September or October time, but that’s being optimistic. We will ultimately be dictated to regarding a restart, which will only come as the restrictions currently in place are lifted and that might only happen once there is definitely no second wave.”
