THE National League campaign has been ended abruptly - but there’s been plenty of time for stars to shine.
Here are just some of the players to leave a positive mark on a strange 2019/20 National League season, pieced together in a 3-4-3 formation.
SAM SLOCOMBE (Notts County): A safe pair of hands between the posts as the men from Meadow Lane have mounted a promotion challenge.
CALLUM HOWE (Solihull Moors): An ever-present at the back for the best defence in the division, chipping in with four goals at the other end.
WARREN BURRELL (Harrogate Town): Still going strong after all these years with Town, helping to provide a solid base to mount a promotion push.
JORDAN KEANE (Stockport County): Has been described as the beating heart of the Hatters’ line-up. His performances have been key to the play-off challenge.
CONNELL RAWLINSON (Notts County): Dependable and committed in the heart of the County defence, which conceded just 38 goals this season.
BRENDAN KIERNAN (Harrogate Town): Has had a hand in 13 of his side’s goals this season, showing just why he was snapped up from Welling.
HARRY BEAUTYMAN (Sutton Utd): Scoring for fun in a midfield role, bagging 15 times - which is almost a third of his side’s goals.
JOHN ROONEY (Barrow): A set-piece expert with creative flair and a will to win. Having one of his best-ever seasons in the Bluebirds’ promotion charge.
SCOTT QUIGLEY (Barrow): The top scorer in the division with 20 goals. Capable of scoring with either foot and head, he’s a real threat for any defence.
RHYS MURPHY (Yeovil): Has the best goals-per-minute ratio of any player to reach double figures. The former Arsenal youngster has 17 goals in a fine season.
KABONGO TSHIMANGA (Boreham Wood): At just 22 the exciting attacker has a bright future ahead. He’s enjoying the present, however, scoring 17 times.
SUBSTITUTES: SAM HIRD (Barrow); JOEL DIXON (Barrow); LUKE YOUNG (Wrexham); INIH EFFIONG (Dover); JAMIE REID (Torquay Utd).
