THE door has been opened for Flint Town United to be promoted to the Cymru Premier League.
Niall McGuinness’ Silkmen were granted a domestic licence on appeal yesterday, while current Cymru North leaders Prestatyn Town were refused.
That means that Flint will be promoted to the top-flight if they finish as runners-up to Prestatyn, who are champions-elect given their 16-points lead at the summit.
There was relief for Airbus and Cefn Druids, who have been awarded a domestic licence after being unsuccessful initially. Druids are virtually mathematically safe, but Airbus will be doing all they can to avoid finishing in the relegation zone when - or if - the action resumes.
Airbus, like Newtown, were successful in their Uefa licence appeal.
Swansea University lost their domestic licence appeal, meaning only Haverfordwest County are in a position to be promoted from Cymru South.
