THEY weren’t able to celebrate three points over the weekend - but Connah’s Quay Nomads still had plenty to smile about.

Director of football Jay Catton joined Nomads’ boss Andy Morrison and first-team coach Craig Harrison in becoming a pro licence holder.

Catton saluted the Football Association of Wales Trust after he ended 18 years of his coaching journey with the pro licence.

He wrote: “Delighted to receive confirmation email today that I’ve successfully passed and completed @FAWTrust @UEFA Pro Licence.

“The 18-year coaching journey to date from 14 years of age doing leaders award to pro licence holder all with @FAWTrust been incredible. #proud”

Catton was also keen to praise Nomads for their support throughout his coaching journey.

He added: “Can’t thank everyone at @the_nomads enough for immense support over all coaching courses to date and aid in completing through out. What a journey and huge thanks for everyone’s support from across all levels. #oneclub”

While Catton was able to reflect on his coaching path, first-team boss Morrison saluted his right-hand man for helping Nomads prove serious title challengers to The New Saints, and regular Europa League qualifiers.

Morrison wrote: “Well done Jay. Your ability to find a solution to whatever problems arise, your determination, vision and work ethic is an example to everyone.

“Those qualities have played a bigger part in the success we have had than anyone could imagine.”

As Catton received confirmation of his pro licence, Morrison was getting his hands on the February Manager of the Month award.

Like his manager, George Horan picked up February’s Player of the Month trophy.

“It’s always nice to pick up awards like this, but it’s all about the team and helping them get three points from every game,” said Horan.

Morrison added: “Well done George on a great month.”
