Wrexham's run to the LDV Vans Trophy final began with a hard-fought 3-2 first round win at Notts County.

Although Shaun Pejic put Denis Smith's side ahead, the Magpies turned things around and led 2-1.

It looked like the Reds were exiting the competition at the first hurdle but Chris Llewellyn levelled and substitute Hector Sam scored the winner three minutes from time.

November 2 2004. Wrexham 2 Stockport 0.

Dennis Lawrence and Danny Williams were on target as Wrexham's cup adventure continued with a 2-0 win against Stockport.

Big centre-back Lawrence put the Reds 1-0 up by the break and Williams struck late on to complete the second round victory.

The match was significant for striker Juan Ugarte who made his Wrexham debut as a late substitute.

November 30 2004. Chester 0 Wrexham 1.

Wrexham claimed the bragging rights and a place in the Northern Area semi-finals by beating arch rivals Chester 1-0.

Juan Ugarte scored the winner in the 19th minute of the third round showdown, registering his ever goal for the Reds.

More than 5,000 fans packed into the Deva Stadium for the cross-border derby.

January 25 2005. Hereford 1 Wrexham 2.

There was no stopping Wrexham as they came from behind to beat Hereford United 2-1 and take another step closer to the final.

Juan Ugarte equalised just one minute after the Bulls took a first half lead and Chris Llewellyn got the all important second goal after the break.

Victory put Denis Smith's men into the Northern Area final.

February 15 2005. Oldham 3 Wrexham 5.

Wrexham were on the verge of reaching the LDV Vans Trophy final following a 5-3 win against Oldham.

It was an epic Northern Area Final first leg at Boundary Park as the Reds build up a 5-1 lead, Spanish striker Juan Ugarte leading the way with a hat-trick.

Mark Jones and captain Darren Ferguson also scored and although Oldham pulled two goals back, it was advantage Wrexham.

March 8 2005. Wrexham 1 Oldham 0.

We've done it! Wrexham were heading to the Millennium Stadium after beating Oldham 6-3 on aggregate.

With a 5-3 advantage going into the second leg, the Reds ensured there was no comeback by the Latics.

Chris Llewellyn's 65th minute goal in front of nearly 6,000 fans at The Racecourse secured Wrexham's place in a major final.
