CEFN ALBION are leading the way in the Welsh National League title race and their manager Sean Jones was also the front-runner when it came to sending in his best team ever.

“Well done with the idea of the fun questionnaire,” said Jones, who has impressed in the Albion hotseat since taking over from Welsh Trophy winning boss Stephen Davies.

And Jones showed his loyalty to the Cefn cause by naming his top team all of players he has featured alongside on the pitch or managed off it.

His team is: 1. Gareth Jones; 2. Sean Jones; 3. Andrew Dexter; 4. Nathan Williams; 5. Paul Griffiths; 6. Nic Jones; 7. Paul Mazzarella; 8. Dion Gibbins; 9. Ian Oliver Davies; 10. Nicky Williams; 11. Alex Williams.

What’s been the highlight of your footballing days so far? Winning the Welsh Trophy last year with Cefn Albion

Who has had the most influence on you as a footballer and in what way? Stephen Davies aka Wacky. Gave me my first team debut in the old FC Cefn team and also helped me get into management.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve seen or been involved in on a football field? Good friend of mine and so-called former goalkeeper Harry Thomas conceding a hat-trick in a match up at New Brighton. The problem was that our left-back that day, another good mate Stephen Jones, was the goalscorer!

What do you find to be the most difficult aspect of playing football? Pace. Always struggled with my own pace and against people who had it.

If you could pluck any player out of the Premier League to play in your team who would it be and why? Kevin de Bruyne. World class.

Which football team do you support and what’s been your favourite moment watching them? Newcastle United. I really enjoyed being in the Gallowgate End for our 5-0 stuffing of Sunderland a few years back.

If you could change one rule in football what would it be and why? Not necessarily a rule but VAR. I don’t like it at all and I’m a firm believer that football is a universal game and if it can’t be implemented at grassroots then it shouldn’t be used in the Premier League.

What’s been the most memorable match you’ve played in? A Welsh Cup second round tie playing for FC Cefn at Montgomery Town. We won 7-3 and I scored a hat-trick playing from right-back.

Who’s been the best player you’ve played with or against? Paul Griffiths aka Munch. A fantastic defender and a great role model to everyone in the dressing room.

Rob Pugh, boss of Cefn Mawr Rangers Reserves, went for a pick and mix in his best ever team which included six Manchester United players.

Top team: 1. Leighton Price; 2. Gary Neville; 3. Denis Irwin; 4. Mark Richards; 5. Jaap Stam; 6. Luke Price; 7. Paul Scholes; 8. Dewi Edwards; 9. Ryan Williams; 10. Eric Cantona; 11. Ryan Giggs.

What’s been the highlight of your footballing days so far? Injury plagued playing career but as manager, beating Airbus and Connah’s Quay in the cup. To a man we were incredible.

Who has had the most influence on you as a footballer and in what way? As a player you look up to idols like Cantona and Giggs etc. But Daniel Richards, our first team coach, has given me real belief this season.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve seen or been involved in on a football field? It was funny then but as a youngster, I remember a referee being chased with a hammer.

What do you find to be the most difficult aspect of playing football? Fitness.

If you could pluck any player out of the Premier League to play in your team who would it be and why? Pains me to say it, but Sadio Mane.

Which football team do you support and what’s been your favourite moment watching them? Manchester United and both Champions League wins.

If you could change one rule in football what would it be and why? Getting booked for celebrating. At times it’s pathetic.

What’s been the most memorable match you’ve played in? Just being involved with U15s and U16s Acrefair teams when winning cups at The Racecourse.

Who’s been the best player you’ve played with or against? Dewi Edwards. Absolute class at youth level.
