STUART GELLING joked that he might leave any media duties to Cefn Druids assistant Jayson Starkey on Saturday.

Gelling’s Cefn Druids are in the capital for a clash with fellow play-off hopefuls Cardiff Met, which is set to be streamed live online.

The Ancients’ head coach was heavily criticised for his pre-match interview ahead of the 4-0 Welsh Cup defeat to Caernarfon Town late last month.

Gelling responded, insisting his words had been misunderstood, but rather than face any further wrath, Starkey could be thrown into the spotlight.

Asked whether the pre-match interview might be the toughest part of tomorrow, Gelling joked: “Possibly. I might ask Jayson to do it just to be on the safe side.”

Gelling will be hoping that Druids can do their talking on the pitch as they come up against a Cardiff Met side ahead of them on goal difference alone.

“We will be going there to win the game,” said Gelling. “A lot of people have told me that they are a good side who can do this and that, but we can be a good side as well.

“Hopefully we can continue trying to dominate the ball and keep improving.”

Striker Cody Ruberto is expected to be in the starting XI after responding to Gelling’s ‘if you score goals you stay in the team’ with a brace against Aberystwyth.

Defender Neil Ashton is suspended, while midfielder Harry Brazel and striker James Davies are sidelined through injury.

In the opposition camp, Met boss Christian Edwards has challenged his players after an “awful” performance in the 2-0 defeat to struggling Penybont.

“In the 12 years I’ve been involved, there aren’t too many times I could turn around and question the players,” said Edwards. “All I asked them is to think about the desire and character you need to finish seventh. If teams are showing that against us in an attempt to stave off relegation, we’ve got to show that exact desire for seventh, because it’s going to be a real battle.”

On the meeting with Druids, Edwards added: “We’ve had some real ding-dong battles with them.”
