WREXHAM remain two points above the National League relegation zone in 17th position after losing 3-0 against Yeovil.

It was the Reds' first ever league clash at Huish Park and Dean Keates' side were unable to build on the 2-0 win at Bromley the previous weekend as high-flying Yeovil claimed the points.

Keates named the same side that started against Bromley and Wrexham had the first sight of goal in the eighth minute.

Luke Young's free-kick into the area fell for Kieran Kennedy whose shot was saved by keeper Liam O'Brien.

Jay Harris's free-kick caught the Yeovil napping but Jordan Ponticelli's first touch let him down and O'Brien gathered.

At the other end, Charlie Lee's header found the sidenetting from Remeao Hutton's cross but Yeovil were forced into a substitution in the 22nd minute when O'Brien suddenly went to ground unchallenged and was stretchered off, with back-up keeper Stuart Nelson coming on in his place.

Marc Richards could not keep a header down for the Glovers who then saw Luke Wilkinson's goal from a corner disallowed following a foul in the Wrexham box.

Wilkinson fired into the sidenetting following another corner as the chances continued to fall to Yeovil but Wrexham came even closer when Hutton was dispossessed by Davis Keillor-Dunn whose low shot was blocked by Nelson's leg.

But Yeovil took the lead in the 44th minute with a bizarre goal.

Lainton dropped the ball to go and kick it but complained to the referee that Courtney Duffus was too close, with the striker slotting into an empty net.

Jason Oswell replaced Dan Jarvis for the start of the second half but it got worse for Wrexham after 56 minutes as Yeovil went 2-0 up.

There was nothing strange about the second goal as Wilkinson scored with a brilliant 25-yard free-kick that gave Lainton no chance.

Keillor-Dunn fired over the bar for Wrexham and Oswell was well off target but only a superb block by Jake Lawlor at the other end prevented Duffus from finding the net following a scramble.

Kyle Barker was brought on for his Wrexham debut in place of Shaun Pearson with 10 minutes to go while Ponticelli saw an effort finish too high.

Keillor-Dunn's shot fell just wide after latching onto Barker's pass but Yeovil scored a third goal in added time.

A Duffus shot hit the post and Albi Skendi converted the rebound to complete victory.
