BUCKLEY’S trip to fellow strugglers Porthmadog is a must-win fixture for Dan Moore’s men - but that’s only because they all are.

The Flintshire outfit slipped back into the Cymru North relegation zone last week with Llangefni taking full advantage of Buckley’s postponed visit to Llanfair by beating Llandudno.

Buckley are just a point adrift of safety with at least four games in-hand on those sides above them in the table, but boss Moore is eager to finish the campaign as strongly as possible.

“The game against Porthmadog is a must-win game, not because of the opposition, every single game is a must-win game for us, so that’s nothing new,” said Moore.

“We have plenty of games to play, we’re not concerned about a possible ‘pile-up’, we’ve been in this situation before as a group and have come through with success, we will take each game as and when it comes.”

Buckley have been unable to build on a 2-1 win at Llanrhaeadr due to the weather, but Moore has been impressed with his players’ attitude.

“We’re looking forward to our game. We’ve had two weeks without a game, but we’ve trained throughout,” said Moore. “I have been very impressed with the mentality of our players, there is an obvious difference between our mindset at this stage of the season, compared to the period between the season starting and Christmas.”

Connor Littler remains sidelined for Buckley.

Corwen, a place and a point behind third from bottom Porthmadog, are due to host Guilsfield tomorrow. The game could be switched to Bala’s Maes Tegid with the War Memorial Ground under water.

“It’s hard to distinguish whether it’s a football pitch or a river,” said Corwen boss Sion Tudor Jones, who is nevertheless chasing a positive result against high-flying Guilsfield if the game gets the go-ahead.

“We’ve had a couple of friendlies since we last played nearly a month ago,” said Tudor Jones, whose side tackled Rhostyllen on Tuesday evening. “We were a little rusty, but there were a lot of positives and it was good preparation for Guilsfield, who are a strong and hard working team.

“It was important to get some game time in because we need points quickly. We want to turn single points into three if we can, but if we don’t lose we are still ticking over."

Ruthin, looking over their shoulder, host Llangefni, rock-bottom Llanfair head to Conwy, Llanrhaeadr meet Llandudno and Colwyn Bay entertain Penrhyncoch.
